"Stood up and stood firm, driven by her spot-on sense of right vs. wrong" - Christy P

We worked on Hastings Waterfront Watch together in the late nineties and early 2000s. When we were strategizing one day about next steps, she was, as always, pushing us to be loud, strong and clear about the outcome we were fighting for. Some in the group were urging caution. Vanessa said, “Would you want to be the one who stands firm when the bulldozer comes to crush your efforts? Or will you be the one who steps aside to save yourself? Well, I am certainly going to stand firm and will never step aside for the bulldozer.” These were not her exact words - she always spoke so articulately, but you get the drift. How can you not love someone who says that?? She ALWAYS stood up and stood firm, driven by her spot-on sense of right vs. wrong and her courage. Also, she happens to be brilliant.
She is a remarkable person who has done SO MUCH with her life. She has so many admirers. What will we do without her fighting for everything that is right? I love her.
