What I think marks Vanessa as a most incredible colleague and professional is this: she was perpetually late for faculty meetings. When she did arrive, she was routinely laden with a 12 inch stack of papers in her arms and bags of work on her shoulders. While during the meeting, she seemed deeply immersed in the work, when an important or controversial point came up in the meeting, Vanessa would weigh in so on point and so insightfully. I have never known anyone so knowledgeable about so much and so capable of doing so many things (and well) at the same time.
