Thanks to Vanessa, I spent a year and a half volunteering at the Immigration Clinic. Although I did not have any prior experience in Immigration and Family Law, she afforded me the space, time and resources to learn under her supervision.

To me, Vanessa embodies the definition of patience, never ending stamina and incredible intellectual capacity. I was immediately impressed by her drive and I realized how fortunate I was to have her as my mentor. I remember telling a fellow attorney that her level of dedication and capacity made me feel in awe of her and at the same time intimidated, to which her coworker pointed out that it was expected because Vanessa was at another level, way above everyone else. So true! Yet, she was always approachable and patient.

I am also so grateful for our talks about family and career. I appreciated her guidance and felt fortunate then, as I do now, to have had those talks. I had to leave the Clinic to do other work, but I always remember my time there as the most enriching personally and professionally, and that is thanks to my exceptional mentor, Vanessa.
