Dearest Vanessa:

I rarely have had the courage to express my deep gratitude to you for all that you have done for me and my career. Simply put, I would not be a professor of law and clinician if it were not for you. I would not have had the honor and privilege of teaching so many students for the past 25 years how to become competent and ethical practitioners if it were not for your willingness to take a chance on me back in the summer of 1999, when Barbara Black asked me to co-teach the Securities Arbitration Clinic with her. Your mentorship, support and dedication since then has been unwavering, and your brilliance as a teacher, scholar and colleague has been nothing short of awe-inspiring and mind-blowing.

I wish you eternal peace in your well-deserved retirement.
